Chinchilla Fuzz

White sheets

White pillows

White walls to stare at

White clouds loafing

Just like we do on the sheets

Black hair I see

A whole lot of it

It’s bigger than my beard

Brown beard, unshaved, untrimmed

Homeless like

Or in other words, hipster influencer

But this black furry fuzzy fluffy thing

Almost looks at me

I can see some eyes hidden, winking

Like a chinchilla or a scruffy small Manila

Fluffy dark monster type of thing

Spawned for joys and wars to bring

I stop staring at the fur

Trying not to blurr

I Look up to the actual eyes

“You got a problem?”

She asked me

“Absolutely not” I told her.

“Why are you staring then?”

She kept inquiring.

She really wanted to know

“It’s bigger than my beard”

I told her

“And I haven’t shaved in 3 months”

No answer

Just more staring

More frowning

So I kept on going

“The jungle is so big

You can hide the whole Viet Cong in there”

Napalm won’t do this time”

Silence

I try not to giggle

But I do it anyway

I look at the white walls

White clouds loafing on the heated sky

Then I stare back into the jungle

Chinchilla fur blinking

Where the ships are all sinking

And my pistol dives winking

I look into the eyes again

No words given

I smile

“Screw you”

She told me

So I jump back

Into the dense jungle

For a new blues to mumble
