Detachments: Part 1

Another day, another breeze

Another hot bowl

Of crab noodles

Served with a warm smile

To put the soul at ease

Another day, another snack

Another guy who’d given up

And traded everything

To build his dream

From a smoke of crack

Another day, another blend

Another dandy gentleman

Who smokes fat cigars on a terrace

By the clear blue water

Just like in the good old-fashioned trend

Another day, another spice

Another café filled

With people standing still

Enslaved by their own device

Another day, another cloud

Another post on social networks

That nobody gives a crap about

But everyone pretends for a brief second

That they actually did

Another day, another wheel rolling

Another group of old friends

Meeting in that same old place

With the same old memories

Photo camera rolling

Fancy dresses showing

For the new year coming

Another day, another act

Another sleepless night

Where the eternal sunshine

Of the spotless mind

Is proven once again

To be intact
